Cancer has made us stronger

Wow. I can't believe it's been almost a year since I've posted last! So much has gone on this past year, it's hard to believe what all my family has endured. It's been rough. G got a compassionante reassignment to come back home for a year while Cade recieved treatment, We went through good and very bad times with Cade, We almost lost him this December-His liver almost failed on us, Cade turned 2, G and I both turned a year older. We celeberated all our birthdays, anniversary, Christmas, and new years in the hopsital. That place has become our new home. I won't lie Cade having cancer has put a toll on G and my marriage, but I think we're finally geting to a place were we are able to patch it back up. I don't know how my family has survived this year, I look back and wonder how we all made it.. but we did and we appreciate eachother more because of what we have all went through. So whats new with us right now.. Well I almost have my associates degree and soon i'll be applying for nursing school. G got orders and we will be moving soon, we're looking forward to this move.. even though Cade is still getting chemotherapy treatment we're ready for this next chapter in our life.. this place has too many memories it's time for a change. I've been doing insanity with G and were really loving it! it's helped me loose 10 pound along with shakeology, I use to go to the gym all the time and the beachbody programs are really helping me get back into shape, the shape i was in before cade was diagnosed Just a little updated picture :)

Your son has cancer..

Caden was diagnosed with Cancer.. While Garrett was in Afghanistan. It all started the week before I went to see my sister Graduate tech school in San angelo. I had taken Caden to the ER, he had been running a fever.. 104. They took an xray of his chest to see if he had RSV. Test came back negetive but the xray looked like he had an enlarged heart. The doctor said don't worry it's probably just a error with the xray but follow up with your doctor when you have time. Well I didn't think it was too important because the ER doctor had reasured me it was no big deal. The next day we went to San angelo, 2 days into the trip Caden was having trouble breathing like something was blocking his airway. (his pediatrician had diagnosed his with asthma) So we gave him a breathing treatment and we thought that helped a little, he didn't weese the entire trip. We headed back home the next day and everything went fine, it was Easter. Although I could tell something was wrong with Caden he was extremely fussy and I don't know how to explain it.. I just knew something was wrong. I brushed it off though because I knew Caden had an appointment with his pediatrician and I'd just talk to it about her tomorrow. The next day we head to the doctor and I tell her about what the ER had said and she sends me next door to get another xray, the xray techs were so sweet and loved caden thought he was the cutest thing in the world, as soon as they took the xray everything changed, they told me to sit outside in the waiting room, then they told me to go talk to Cadens doctor. Then when Cadens doctor came in the room she gave me directions to go to the childrens hospital, so the could take a sono and get a clear picture of what was going on. The doctor told me it was probably just an enlarged thymus and that was normal. We get to the hospital and they take a sono same thing happened with the lady that happened with the xray techs, everything changed. She told me to go wait in the waiting room, well I finally get a call from the doctor on their phone in the waiting room. It's not his thymus, they think it's a tumor... We were sent to the ER immediately then taken to the PICU so we could get ready for his surgery the next day. By then it was probably 10pm, I needed to sent Garrett a red cross message. He was on a mission, I didn't even think he'd be able to get the message.. but he called me at 4am the next day. I never imagined I'd have to tell my husband over the PHONE that our son could possibly have cancer and that he's having surgery in 3 hours. G took it better then I thought he would, but honestly we all took it better then I thought we would. We were in shock, we didn't have time to cry or break down.. our body, our emotions, our hearts were in shock. About 10 hours later the surgent comes out and tells me, while I have all our family (mine and Gs) around me.. that Caden does have cancer.. all I could say was "ok".. "no I don't have any questions".. "Thank you for taking special care of my son".. then I walked off.. all I wanted to do was see my son. The next days were a blurrrr.. until G came home, I never imagined my first "welcome back home from deployment" would be in those circumstances. It's crazy how our lives have changed in a blink of an eye.
This was Caden right before his first surgery.. He had a huge mass on his lung almost completely covering the whole lung.
This was the next day after the surgery, kids are so resilient.
The day caden has surgery to get his port placed in..
Going home after surgery, he is so tough.. Caden is no doubt my HERO!
Had to get his hair shaved off, it was falling out.. bad.
One of the times he has had to have blood.
And this is the most recent picture of Caden, He's now in remission.. doing good. He will have to have chemotherapy until he is 4 years old, he's 18 months today.

Algebra :/

This semester is wayyyy harder than last semester. I'm taking A&P 2, English, Psychology-Growth and Development, and Algebra. The only reason this semester is hard for me.. is because of STUPID Algebra. I've never been good at math I barely made B's in high school. But last week I took my first Algebra test and.. Well lets just say I bombed my first Algebra test I'm way to embarrassed to even say what I actually made. I've never failed a College test and I'm really upset about it. How do you even study for math? I'm getting a tutor because I can NOT fail Algebra, failing is NOT an option for me. Why does math have to be so difficult for me, why can't I have my mothers brain when it comes to this. She's a darn Accountant!! Grrr:/

But on a happier note I ordered my brides maid dress for my best friends wedding.. guess what size it is. Go ahead guess!! Okay i'll tell you it's a size 4!!!!!!! Ahhh Can you believe it I'm so happy i've worked my butt off this past year and it definitely paid of. I'm now 133lbs my goals 130, so close:)

Sick, sick and more sick

I've always been a some-what healthy person, barely ever sick. But this year.. wasn't my year, Little G and I have been in and out of the doctors office every week. I'm constantly getting sinus infections and Litle G is on his 4th ear infection. I've done everything in my power to try and prevent us from getting sick but it never fails ear and sinus infections come back to visit.

I have never had this many sinus infectins in my life, the doctors think I have allergies.. I've never had allergies either!! I don't know what is up with me but my body must be drastically changing.. or something. Little G's doctor is talking about getting tubes for his ear, which i'm not looking forward to Putting him to sleep for that :/.. ehh!

On top of us being sick non-stop.. i'm taking 4 classes this semester. Anatomy and physiolgy 2, Algebra, Psychology and English.. so my blogging is going to be limited. But don't give up on me i'll be back each chance I get, Promise:)

R&R is over :/

Yeah it's over and it really stinks. I hate having to get back into my "routine" of being a "single mom". Having G's help with little G was nice.. I could definitely get use to it!
When I got back home from dropping G off at the airport I always run into this Funk that I just can't shake, I hate it! It's that i'm depressed but I don't wanna be depressed, I miss my huband come back home kinda Funk.. ehh! I ended up getting a stomache bug for about 3 days and thank God for G's family that live close by to help I wasn't even able to walk, it was bad.
Anyway after I got sick I was still in that funk and so I randomly decided that I needed to get away before school starts.. Me and little G packed up and went to arkansas.. it's a nice get away from all the drama that me and G had to deal with-with our now ex-friends.. i'll save that for another day of course.
But I definitely think that coming to arkansas has kicked this nasty funk, thank God:)

I'll leave y'all with this amazing picture.. we took these right before G left. I'm inlove with this one!!

December

I love December.
It's always been my favorite month.
When I was a kid it was my favorite month,
Because It was my birthday and ChrPlistmas.
Now there's so many more things that have
happened in my life in December that it really
Holds a special place in my heart now.
First of all it's Little G's birthday
Mine and G's Anniversary
and G's birthday as well.

Plus to top December off with a nice little cherry,
G is going to be home for R&R.
I just love it!!

"over you" Miranda Lambert

I absolutely LOVE the new song Miranda Lambert. I've come to realize that most "break up songs" relates (in a way) to being a Military spouse.. and how much you miss them.

Miranda Lambert – Over You Lyrics
Verse 1:
Weather man said it’s gonna snow
By now I should be used to the cold
Mid-February shouldn’t be so scary
It was only December
I still remember the presents, the tree, you and me

Chorus:
But you went away
How dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be ok
But I’m not going to ever get over you

Verse 2:
Living alone here in this place
I think of you, and I’m not afraid
Your favorite records make me feel better
Cause you sing along
With every song
I know you didn’t mean to give them to me

Chorus:
But you went away
How dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be ok
But I’m not going to ever get over you

It really sinks in you know when I see it in stone
Cause you went away, how dare you?
I miss you
They say I’ll be ok
But I’m not going to ever get over you

My favorite part is in Bold. Ughh is it R&R yet??
Hope y'all are all doing well:)

Good to be back:)

I can't believe I haven't blogged in 3 MONTHS!! I've missed reading everyones blog!! &The past 3 months I could have used some of you Army wives advice! G's R&R is almost around the corner and I'm almost done with my first semster of college.. which btw i'm making all A's in.. for now atleast, I'm taking Anatomy and Physiology.. if that tells you anything. One of the hardest classes i've ever taken!!

So much has happened in this last 3 months...
My sister graduated my Air force BMT, i'm so proud of her!!

Little G is Walking!! He started walking at 8 months, can you believe it.. I can't even believe it when I talk about it. He's almost 10 months now:/

My dad came and visited for R&R we had a good time, It was short and sweet as always.. but y'all know how that is.

Ohh and i've lost almost 24 pounds.. only 4 more pounds until i'm back to the weight I was before I had little G:)

The best things in life..

Little G always knows how to put a smile on my face. He is such a happy baby and I don't know how I'd get through this deployment without him. When I'm upset all I have to do is look at him, and it never fails he always has a warm, happy smile just waiting for me. God really knew what he was doing when he gave me this amazing child. I needed him, and he knew that. He makes my days better, happier and less lonely.

You'll probably never know that mommy needs you.. more than you need mommy<3

1 month down

The first month of deployment it over!

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but then again this month has been pretty busy for me. I got ready for school and while I was running around getting books and classes in order.. I was also running around like a chicken with its head cut off taking Little G to the doctor,.. multiple times! He had this horrible rattling noise in his lungs. The doctor thinks it was because his ear infection and all that drained down to his lungs. I've been having to give him 3 different types of medicine and breathing treeatments.. I'm so glad he's a good baby because he just sat there at took the treatments like a trooper!!

Job or No Job?

I guess there has to come a time in the deployment when I need to put my big girl pants on and put a smile on my face. And i'm thinking I need to do that now, this weeks been pretty stressful with registering for classes and trying to firgure out if this new job is really worth it. The job that I applied for was something I really wanted to do and it seemed like they were going to work around my schedule.. well I get on the phone with them this morning and they tell me they want me to miss my first week of school. I got off the phone with her and G called He didn't quite like that idea. So I'm going to decline the offer.. I'm a little upset but I think it's for the best. School right now is the most important thing for me and well having a job is something I don't NEED right now. So for the time being I'm just going to go to school and be a mom:) I think that's enough in its-self!

Oh.. what's going on.

Today started out terrible! Nothing seemed to want to go right for me. I woke up late, getting little G and myself ready this morning seemed impossible, and my books this semester cost more than my rent plus I got a RED message from FRG. I haven't spoke to G for a couple days and it just worried me. I quickly realized I need to live by the rule "No news, is good news"!

Things started to look up after I got the e-mail. I got a JOB, finally! It's just weekends so I still have time to be a mommy:) I'll be working at a place thats kinda like a Nursing home, it'll help me get my foot in the door with Nursing school. &i'll have good letters of recommendations from those nurses!

On another happy note Little G is growing up so fast! Yells Dada all the time, not mama yet:/
